Helmi has over 20 years’ experience in the entire spectrum of projects ranging from project conception and business development to project advisory to project finance giving him in-depth knowledge of domestic and foreign Public Private Partnership (PPP) and wholly private projects in various industries including highways, railways, township and property development, oil and gas, power plants, and telecommunications.
He is also a subject matter expert in Islamic finance having led a number of award-winning Islamic finance transactions and has served notable Malaysian conglomerates, a renowned international advisory firm, and local and international banking groups. He is well versed in leading teams and unlocking individual potential, and experienced in coaching junior to senior levels.
Helmi’s list of recognized transactions include Bumi Armada Berhad’s Kraken FPSO (Malaysia International Project Finance Bank of the Year by Asian Banking & Finance Magazine), Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Best Islamic Financing Deal of the Year in Southeast Asia by Alpha Southeast Asia), Projek Lebuhraya Usahasama Berhad (Best Corporate Sukuk by The Asset Triple A, Malaysia Deal of the Year by Islamic Finance News and Best Islamic Finance Deal of the Year in Southeast Asia by Alpha Southeast Asia), and DanaInfra Nasional Berhad (Best Local Currency Sukuk by The Asset Triple A and Best Project Financing Deal of the Year in Southeast Asia by Alpha Southeast Asia).
He also played instrumental roles in earning the respective team’s accolades of distinction such as Best Loan House, Malaysia (The Asset Magazine) and Best Domestic Bond House, Malaysia (The Asset Triple A). In addition, his teams landed many of the the annual top lead manager and distinction awards given by RAM Rating Services Berhad and Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC).
Helmi’s focus areas are Islamic capital markets, project finance, financial modelling, valuation and anti-money laundering. He is certified as a trainer by the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRD Corp) and is a member of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers.
Norbaizurah has accumulated over 20 years’ worth of experience in the financial services and audit industries. She started as an auditor with Ernst & Young before moving on to join the Private Debt Securities Department of the Securities Commission. She subsequently joined Kuwait Finance House – one of the first foreign Islamic banks in Malaysia – where she was responsible for structuring and executing Sukuk transactions.
After that she moved to Danajamin Nasional Berhad which was established to further expand the Sukuk market in Malaysia. She successfully set up the Kafalah platform which underlie Danajamin’s role in the Sukuk market. She also oversaw the underwriting exercises of Danajamin though the use of financial guarantees.
Norbaizurah has a Degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of East London and a Master’s Degree in Islamic Finance awarded by the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF). She is also an accredited trainer of the Human Resource Development Corporation.
